Foundation Impact At A Glance: Statewide Impact

2017-18 Impact by the Numbers

The North Carolina Bar Foundation’s mission to “Unite the talent and generosity of our profession to be a power of greater good for the people of North Carolina” means our signature pro bono and public service programs thrive because of the talent and generosity of volunteers and donors.

NC Free Legal Answers, the Foundation’s newest pro bono program, is a virtual legal advice clinic, that enabled attorney volunteers in 23 counties to provide legal assistance in 80 counties across the state.

4All Statewide Service Day mobilized attorney volunteers who answered over 8,000 calls for legal advice from 7 call centers in a single day.

Entrepreneurs Assistance Program made it possible for several low-wealth entrepreneurs to receive legal assistance with patents, non-patent intellectual property, business entity formation and contracts.

Wills for Heroes harnessed the talent of 146 attorneys assisting first responders and their families with the preparation of free wills, health care powers of attorney and general powers of attorney.

Civic Education programs engaged North Carolina’s youth, as well as adults, in law-related educational opportunities that helped them understand and have confidence in the rule of law and our justice system.
