The North Carolina Bar Foundation facilitates opportunities for meaningful interactions between students and members of the legal profession who are willing to share their stories, perspectives, and insights. Fostering this type of volunteer engagement helps students gain knowledge and understanding on topics such as pursuing a law degree, the different areas of the law, and how the Judicial system works.

I became engaged with the Lawyers in Schools initiatives through the NCBA Judicial Independence & Integrity Committee. My experience over the past few years is that talking with students at this point in their education is helpful in bringing their coursework “to life.” It is a tremendous opportunity for us, as lawyers and standard-bearers for the rule of law and our legal system, to have access to these students. It is also a humbling honor and an incredible gift.
