The North Carolina Bar Foundation Annual Fund provides support across all NCBF pro bono, civic education, professionalism and DEI programs that annually engage hundreds of attorney volunteers to serve thousands of North Carolinians throughout the state.
The NCBF Open Door Fund and Fellowship demonstrate our ongoing commitment to address inequities in access to legal services and participation in the legal profession experienced by historically excluded or disadvantaged individuals and communities in North Carolina.
Disaster Legal Services
The DLS pro bono program provides disaster-related resources and services to the public and attorneys with the support of the North Carolina Bar Foundation.
Wills for Heroes Clinic
Clinics where volunteer attorneys draft simple wills, health care power of attorney, financial power of attorney, and advance directive documents for first responders and their families, free of charge.
NC LEAP
This program coordinates attorney volunteers to provide pro bono business law advice and counsel to small business owners through webinars and clinics held in partnership with non-profit organizations throughout the state.
NC Free Legal Answers is a time-limited, limited-service representation pro bono program. The program makes it easy for volunteer attorneys to find questions that align with their particular practice areas or interests.
Lawyers for Literacy Student
Lawyers for Literacy is a civic education program that matches legal professionals with elementary-aged schoolchildren to improve students’ reading skills and spark their interest in civics and history.
4ALL-Lawyers on Call is an annual volunteer program in which lawyers provide free legal answers, information and resources to callers wanting to speak to a lawyer about North Carolina-related legal matters.
NCBF supports teachers, parents and students who coordinate mock trial experiences for middle school students through creation of the below materials including cases, materials, instructions and guides.
McIntyre Youth Award Winners
The MYLC strives to inspire and encourage middle and high school students to demonstrate the qualities of good citizenship by seeking solutions to the various problems within their local communities.
Patent Pro Bono Program
An opportunity for volunteer patent attorneys to provide pro bono legal services to low-wealth solo inventors, nonprofit organizations and small businesses by assisting them with their applications to the USPTO.
The North Carolina Bar Foundation Endowment makes grants available to North Carolina organizations that are engaged in programming or projects that advance the Foundation’s values of access to justice, service through the profession, civic education, professionalism, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
