Leave a Legacy for Tomorrow
Instill your legacy with a planned gift, costing you nothing now.
Deferred gifts are planned charitable contributions that allow you to retain control of your assets during your lifetime, have potential tax benefits* and give you the flexibility to modify your plan if personal circumstances change.
Platt D. Walker Society
The Platt D. Walker Society recognizes and celebrates individuals who have made a deferred gift to NCBF (testamentary bequest, beneficiary designation, charitable trust or other deferred gifts). It helps ensure NCBF has the financial resources to fund excellent programs to serve the profession and the people of North Carolina in the future.
If you have already included NCBF in your estate plans, please download the Deferred Gift Form and let us know, so you can be added as a member of the Society.
Consult your tax advisor to learn more about potential tax benefits in planned giving. Please contact us for more information about the Platt D. Walker Society, estate planning and ways that you can support the NCBF through legacy gifts.

Options for Making a Deferred Gift
Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)
A CRT is considered a deferred planned gift, though it is irrevocable. It allows donors to contribute assets (often appreciated property) now to receive an immediate tax deduction and recognition for the gift by NCBF. It provides a lifetime income stream, while NCBF receives the remaining assets only after a specified period or the donor’s death.
Gifts In Memoriam
A simple way to include NCBF in your legacy is to include a request for In Memoriam Gifts to be made to the Foundation as part of your obituary. A written acknowledgement will be sent to both the person who makes such a gift as well as to your designated family member, recognizing the gift in your honor. You can do so by having gifts sent to NCBF, 8000 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC 27513, or at ncbarfoundation.org/donate.
