#GivingTuesday
Join us on Tuesday, December 3 for a very special #GivingTuesday, as we support NC Disaster Legal Services, an NCBF pro bono program. Below, you will learn about this important initiative, how you can share the need with others, and information about a matching challenge and drawings to fuel the excitement of the day!
The Need
In late September, Western North Carolina experienced unimaginable loss due to Tropical Storm Helene, including nearly 100 lives. As survivors begin to rebuild their lives, the need for legal assistance has driven a collaborative effort of the NCBF, NCBA Young Lawyer Division, Legal Aid of North Carolina, Pisgah Legal Services, and FEMA. More than 1,500 volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students have registered for to provide assistance through NC Disaster Legal Services pro bono program. These attorneys have begun to help victims with FEMA claims and appeals, habitability, school displacement, estate planning, consumer protection and more.
Continued funding will be needed to help support case management, technology for volunteer recruitment and training, meals for volunteers, and printed materials to share the Disaster Legal Services Hotline at FEMA centers, and more.
The Challenge
Thanks to a few anonymous donors, a Matching Challenge Gift from a few anonymous donors will double gifts up to the first $12,500 donated to NC Disaster Legal Services on Giving Tuesday! Take advantage of this opportunity to make your gift go twice as far.
The Prizes
Two drawings for two exciting prizes will also take place on Wednesday, December 4 once all donations have been received. By making a pledge or donation of any size to the NCBF on December 3, 2024, your name will be entered for a chance to win:
- 2 tickets to see the Carolina Hurricanes take on the Utah Hockey Club at the Lenovo Center on Saturday, February 8, at 1:00 PM. Parking pass included for this game!
