Veterans Life Center Pro Bono Clinic
Hosted by the North Carolina Bar Association Military & Veterans Law Section
- The Military and Veterans Law Section (MVLS) will partner with the Veterans Life Center in Butner to provide pro bono referrals and legal clinics to help meet the needs of program participants, who are otherwise homeless veterans who reside at the Center but come from communities across the state.
- The project will provide pro bono limited legal services, clinics and pro se assistance. The purpose of this project proposal is to focus the Section’s pro bono effort to target homeless veterans, a high-need population. Veterans served by the Veterans Life Center experience a constellation of social service needs, and unresolved legal issues can make recovery more difficult.
- MVLS expects to engage 5-20 volunteer attorneys throughout the year to provide virtual “ask a lawyer” events, focused clinics on timely topics as needs emerge, and brief advice and consults through ad hoc referrals.
