Elections, Appointments Complete 2021-22 NCBF Board

Under the amended North Carolina Bar Foundation bylaws, effective June 22, 2019, the NCBF Board of Directors includes the voting members of the Executive Committee of the NCBA Board of Governors, the voting members of the Audit and Finance Committee of the NCBA Board of Governors, the chairs of the Foundation’s three standing committees (Development, Endowment and Programs), and six at-large members.

To establish three-year staggered terms, the initial at-large directors are serving in pairs for terms expiring in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Each will be eligible to serve one additional three-year term. The standing committee chairs also are serving staggered terms and are eligible to serve one additional three-year term.

Upon completion of June 17-18 NCBA Annual Meeting and summer and organizational meetings of the NCBA Board of Governors and the NCBF Board of Directors, the 2021-22 NCBF Board of Directors is set.

Stuart Dorsett of Brown Advisory in Chapel Hill and Evan Lewis of Evan Lewis, Attorney, in Washington have been re-elected to three-year at-large terms.

Additional individuals have joined the NCBF Board of Directors either by election or appointment by NCBA/NCBF President Jon Heyl and President-elect Clayton Morgan. They are:

• NCBA/NCBF President-elect Clayton Morgan of Duke Energy in Raleigh, who will chair the NCBA/NCBF Audit & Finance Committees. He also serves on the NCBA/NCBF Executive Committees.
• Edward Griggs of Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP in Winston-Salem, who has been appointed to a three-year term as chair of the NCBF Endowment Committee.
• Doris Bray of Schell Bray in Greensboro, who is chairing the Senior Lawyers Division and serving on the NCBA/NCBF Executive Committees.
• Will Quick of Brooks Pierce in Raleigh, who is chairing the Young Lawyers Division and serving on the NCBA/NCBF Executive Committees.
• Alison Ashe-Card of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, who is serving on the NCBA/NCBF Audit & Finance Committees.
• Rebecca Smitherman of Craige Jenkins Liipfert & Walker LLP in Winston-Salem, who is serving on the NCBA/NCBF Audit & Finance Committees.
• Linda Johnson of Senter, Stephenson, Johnson PA in Fuquay-Varina, who is serving on the NCBA/NCBF Executive Committees.
• Camille Payton of Hunter & Everage in Charlotte, who is serving on the NCBA/NCBF Executive Committees.
• Judge Joe L. Webster of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of N.C. in Durham, who is serving on the NCBA/NCBF Executive Committees.
