NCBF Charlotte Area Middle School Mock Trial
On February 24, 2023, five Charlotte-area middle schools gathered at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse for a Middle School Mock Trial Competition.
The NC Bar Foundation and the NCBF Civic Education and Community Engagement Committee play an integral role in facilitating these competitions by providing case materials and rules documents, helping coach teams or identify coaches, and participating as presiding judges and scoring jurors.
Mark Henriques, a partner with Womble Bond Dickinson (US), is a frequent volunteer with the program. For Mark, serving as a judge of the Middle School Mock Trial is inspirational.
Three rounds were held throughout the day leading up to the fourth and final championship round supported by 16 attorney and paralegal volunteers acting as judges and jurors. Students from Trinity Episcopal School took home medals as winners of this year’s Charlotte-area competition.
